(ENGLEWOOD) -- Assemblyman Gordon M. Johnson today announced he is teaming with Senator Byron Baer and Assemblywoman Loretta Weinberg to brighten the holiday season for District 37 families in need. District legislators will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for boys and girls -- Monday through Friday -- between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. "You'd be surprised at the number of families in our area who are not able to provide toys and other gift items to their children during the holiday season," said Johnson (D-Englewood). "Though the state's economy has shown improvement during the year, many families continue to suffer financial hardships of one sort or another." "This drive has been organized to benefit needy children in our district," said Baer (D- Hackensack). "The donations residents make could provide children who might not otherwise get a present with the only gift they receive." "The toy drive we're sponsoring will give residents the opportunity to help their neighbors who are less fortunate," said Weinberg (D-Teaneck). "After all, so much of what the holiday season is all about is helping others." Johnson said toys can be dropped off through December 18. Afterwards, they will be delivered to local shelters, churches and hospitals for distribution. For more information and drop offs, District 37 legislators can be reached at:
