MEDIA ADVISORY
Legislators Tout Highlands Legislation Shortfalls

Morris Plains, NJ -- A press conference scheduled for May 20 will feature Assemblymembers from Districts 26, 25, 24 and 23, as well as other local and county elected officials. The legislators will speak about the ramifications of the Highlands Legislation and discuss ways to protect towns within the Highlands area.

Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce and Assemblyman Joe Pennacchio, who organized the press conference, said they would like their concerns to be heard at the event.

An abandoned quarry mine transformed into a golf course in the Highlands is the perfect example of 'good' development that would never have happened under the Highlands legislation, Berkshire Valley Golf Course is also an example of an environmentally friendly initiative that took twice as long to build and cost twice as much because of DEP interjection. If transforming an old dump site was so difficult for a county, the implications for the average property owner and municipalities would be overwhelming.
