A Jersey Tradition? -- Strangers in the Night! -- McGreevey Karaokes Sinatra
I glanced at one of the reviews of the sneak peeks of McGreevey's The Confession. It was so shocking that I basically didn't know what to think.
Until this morning.
As luck would have it, I was watching a recording of PBS's recent show on Goebbels. Then it struck me: McGreevey still is a master liar.
James E.'s grotesque revelations either are fabrications or he is lying about the explanation for the bizarre behavior. Why does he continue to deceive? To promote sales of the book and to inkcloud the real -- so far unpublicized -- cause of his hasty departure from Trenton. Force of habit probably is there, too.
This Fall, I'll be keeping an eye on the paper recycling at the curb. Once I find a copy of McGreevey's version of Gone With The Wind, I'll read it. As far as that goes, every resident of NJ should get a free copy since we've already paid for it many times over.

Old History: Henry Thoreau protests the federal government's attempt to force local law enforcement to apprehend those attempting to flee the country in order to escape a life of forced labor.
New History: Rudy Giuliani protests the federal government's attempt to force local law enforcement to apprehend those who entered the country seeking work.

Why's it that anatomically correct means depicted as nature intended, but politically correct refers to cerebral caponization?

There were few Jews in Linz. In the course of the centuries their outward appearance had become Europeanized and had taken on a human look; in fact, I even took them for Germans. The absurdity of this idea did not dawn on me because I saw no distinguishing feature but the strange religion. The fact that they had, as I believed, been persecuted on this account sometimes almost turned my distaste at unfavorable remarks about them into horror.
. . .
Then I came to Vienna.
. . .
Once, as I was strolling through the Inner City, I suddenly encountered an apparition in a black caftan and black hair locks. Is this a Jew? was my first thought.
For, to be sure, they had not looked like that in Linz. I observed the man furtively and cautiously, but the longer I stared at this foreign face, scrutinizing feature for feature, the more my first question assumed a new form:
Is this a German?

On Racists Using the Immigration Issue to "Blend In" What do you get when you mix one ounce of piss with eleven ounces of beer?
There's no doubt that America needs an immigration policy. Rationally, policy precedes law. The original framework was one of blatant racism and xenophobia -- the quota system of immigration. To whatever degree that's been scrapped, we now have legal impementation in search of a concept. Certainly, people coming to this country to work deserve the same protections from exploitation as the rest of the labor force. Terrorists, those afflicted with communicable diseases, smugglers, and criminals are to be denied easy access. The disgraceful spectacle must end of people suffering and dying while treking here in the hope of landing a menial job. The 9/11 hijackers had no trouble entering the country.
But, fringe elements are trying to make a soapbox out the immigration issue. Segregationists and anti-Semites were locked out of U.S. politics some forty years ago. For White Supremacists, the topic of immigration is a tool to start a dialogue with mainstream Americans. They are quite candid in admitting that their real targets are Blacks and Jews. Most of these idealogical racists blame their personal failure on diversity. The worst, the most despicable, are the ones milking the mania for personal gain -- monetary or political. And for the Little Rascals that never grew up -- those hanging out on the Rio Grande to protect the country -- what America needs protection from most are home-grown fools.
In the Jersey City Heights, I've heard people attribute the entire spectrum of criminal activity -- from litter to murder -- to "all these Mexicans." The Mexicans that I've seen all were working very hard. That they are different in appearance seems to spark some irrational, lack of thought process, instantaneous scape goating.
Think who the immigrants have been and are now.
Jews fleeing Hitler were sent back to Germany -- to the gas chambers. In the early eighties, I remember Solidarity unionists hiding out in Jersey City after the Polish puppet government imposed martial law. In New York City there is a significant number of undocumented Irish. Think about the people picking fruit and vegetables in the blazing sun.
Think about the people scrubbing floors and bathrooms. Think about the people working long hours in restaurants. Think about your grandparents.

After an extensive study of ancient texts including the Code of Hammurabi, the Hippocratic Oath, and the Elder Edda I've devised a Code of Political Ethics. Here it is:
First, do no harm.
If that doesn't work, . . .
