SACCO: TRANSPORTATION ISSUES WILL STAND OUT IN 2006

TRENTON - Senator Nicholas Sacco, D-Bergen and Hudson and Chair of the
Senate Transportation Committee, made the following statement following the
swearing in of Jon Corzine as New Jersey's 54th Governor:

"Today is a day to look forward and consider the endless possibilities the
future may hold. I have no doubt, as Chair of the Senate Transportation
Committee, that the coming year will be a very busy one for me and my
committee.

"The Transportation Trust Fund is broke and we need to find a permanent
solution to the funding crisis. We can no longer count on budget gimmicks to
pay for our transportation infrastructure needs. We can no longer delay
action, hoping that it will become the next person's problem.

"As we welcome Governor Corzine to the State House, I am looking forward to
working with him to find realistic, responsible solutions to the problems
facing the Transportation Trust Fund and our transportation infrastructure
as a whole."
