: The Mulberry Street Coalition : : Newark, NJ -- Billionaire Developer Donald Trump used the final Apprentice show Thursday night to tout the construction of a luxury condominium building on the Jersey City waterfront. : The Donald, who prides himself on dealing with people of quality and integrity, may be surprised to learn the builder he chose for the project – Dan Geibel of Metro Homes Inc. – has partnered with a convicted cocaine trafficker to oust people from their homes and businesses in Newark. : Geibel’s partner in the Mulberry Street redevelopment project in Newark is Emilio Farina, identified in a recent Star–Ledger expose on development practices in Newark, as a “cocaine trafficker” who has benefited from his connections to city hall to reap advantages for his projects. : Geibel and Farina and their firms have donated more than $50,000 to Newark politicians in an effort to get the city to invoke eminent domain to take people’s homes and businesses. : George Mytrowitz, spokesman for the Mulberry Street Coalition – a group of property owners fighting the condemnation of their property, says he is surprised Trump would partner with a man like Geibel. : “I always thought of Donald Trump as man of character who works with people of character. I can’t imagine why he wants to lend his prestigious name to a group that is involved in the sleazy development world of Newark,” said Mytrowitz, owner of an auto body shop in Newark. : : Geibel whose firm has been touting the Mulberry Street project on its web site for months, removed mention of the Newark Project after the Trump partnership in Jersey City was announced. : “It’s clear, Geibel doesn’t want people to know he is involved in a controversial project that highlights government corruption and the abuse of eminent domain,” said Mytrowitz. “I wonder if he has told Donald Trump about his dealings in Newark and if he has, if Trump approves.” : Mytrowitz said the relationship also raises questions about Trump’s feelings on eminent domain abuse. “Obviously Geibel has no reservations about taking private property to make money, but I wonder if Mr. Trump feels the same way? Is the Trump organization endorsing the abuse of eminent domain by local governments?”
