FIRST LADY TO DELIVER REMARKS DURING MENTAL HEALTH FUND RAISER

(TRENTON) First Lady Mary Jo Codey on Sunday, Jan. 9, will deliver remarks at a fund raiser for the Mercer County affiliate of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill.

The fund raiser, "A Night Out With NAMI," will feature Richard Kogan, M.D., pianist and psychiatrist in a lecture-recital with the music of Tchaikovsky. Kogan is an internationally known concert pianist and orchestral soloist who explores how classical composers used their inner conflict, illness and suffering as sources of inspiration.

The First Lady, a long-time advocate for the mentally ill, will speak prior to the recital.

Acting Governor Richard J. Codey in November signed an executive order establishing the Task Force on Mental Health, which will recommend ways to better help the mentally ill lead normal lives.

NAMI Mercer, based in Lawrenceville, is a nonprofit, grassroots, family advocacy organization committed to supporting and improving the quality of life from people with mental illness and their families.
