CODEY EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES FOR TSUNAMI VICTIMS

(TRENTON) Acting Governor Richard J. Codey today issued the following statement expressing his condolences and support for victims of the tsunami that devastated Southern Asia on Sunday and left a reported 44,000 dead as of today.

I am deeply saddened by the tremendous loss of life the world is experiencing as a result of this horrific natural disaster. The devastation and destruction impacts us here in New Jersey, as many of our friends and neighbors have family members and roots in Southern Asia.

On behalf of the residents of our state, I express my condolences for the tsunami victims and their families, and offer my support as we prepare for the trying days ahead.

Codey is encouraging individuals who wish to contribute to the relief effort to send donations to the American Red Cross, International Response Fund, P.O. Box, 37243, Washington, D.C, 20013.

The phone number for the Red Cross is 800-HELP-NOW. They may also be contacted via their website at www.redcross.org.
